Melissa was my postpartum doula for several weeks and I could not have done it with out her! Melissa is an incredibly easy-going person and wonderful to have helping during such a sensitive and personal time. She is naturally intuitive and is so flexible with your needs. She truly is a baby whisperer and I felt that my baby was getting the best care when she taught me various techniques in feeding, burping and bathing my baby. She came out to visit the baby and me, as much as we needed and truly went beyond her promises! All her tips and advice helped me adjust to motherhood.
She also is an amazing resource; she not only is helpful with a multitude of motherhood/parenting topics, she was easliy accesible and answered all my questions and concerns 24/7 and contiunes to do so if I ever call her with a random question. I highly recommend her services and won't hesitate to hire her again next time around!
My son, Deven, is almost 3 months old and I can securely say that I feel like a strong & confident new mom. This is largely thanks to Melissa. It is difficult to imagine that someone you have only known a short while can provide you with so much comfort, caring and support. Even though I had the help of my family, Melissa gave me something no one else could - confidence.
She has been part of my son's life from his first breath and hasn't stopped caring since. During my first week home, Melissa was a god-send, especially at 3 in the morning! She not only gave me the tools I needed to get through those rough first few days but she also gave me the support and advice that made me believe in myself to be a great mom. Almost as important, she gave me a few hours of much needed sleep!
Melissa is patient, extremely caring and thoughtful (thanks for the tea at 3 am, folded laundry just so I wouldn't have to and the hugs that always came at the right time!)
I know I would have eventually figured everything out on my own but having Melissa here with us made the first couple of weeks enjoyable & memorable as an extremely positive experience which can be a challenge with only a couple of hours of sleep a night.
Melissa: our lives are forever changed because of you. I can't thank you enough for everything. You were a sounding board when I needed it, a great motivator when I wanted to give up and an incredible friend that I will always cherish. Most of all, I love you for caring for Deven as if he was your own.
We cannot thank you enough,
Ritu, Yogesh & Deven
Debt of thanks....My family owes a huge debt of thanks to Julie Finley for her wonderful treatment and expertise in making my daughter's birth experience as positive an experience as possible.
I don't know how one could do without the support of a Doula after witnessing it first hand.
Julie, your before and after support was just as invaluable as your labour and delivery care. Your years of experience as an obstetrical nurse makes you by far a leader in the field.
Lets start simple…Julie is the best! She was our Doula for both my son, who was 9lbs 10oz a huge head and almost two weeks early, and my daughter, who was 8lbs 13 oz and born in 2.5 hours of labor. I have a husband who worries about anything when it comes to hospitals and generally just freaks out about going to them in the first place. If this sounds familiar, then you would understand part of the reason why I thought a Doula would perhaps be a good idea. It was also very important to me to have the support I needed to have the natural nonmedicated delivery I hoped for. It was a great reassurance for me to know that I had an experienced Labour and Delivery nurse on hand with Julie so that she could reassure my husband and me when it came to monitoring and tests in the hospital as well as keep me on track with the delivery I had envisioned. There is a lot that can happen with labor and having someone like Julie around for it can certainly help to ease your mind. She was wonderful in helping to keep me focused during labor and I could not have had the natural medication free delivery that I wanted without her. My labors were quick and this was in part to Julie and all her little tricks. In addition, the postpartum was hell with my son (jaundice, infections, breastfeeding trouble, crazy emotional highs and lows, etc.), and having Julie available to answer questions and help with breastfeeding was beyond amazing. She is full of knowledge and contacts to help with any aspect of labor and delivery, postpartum, and breastfeeding. Believe me, we took full advantage of all of her experience and knowledge.
Really your question shouldn’t be whether to hire Julie or not….it’s a NO BRAINER, DO IT!!! Thank you Julie for being the amazing person that you are.

Our precious baby arrived three weeks early and we ended spending the first few days in the hospital. This contributed to a rough start when it came to breastfeeding. My husband and I were so exhausted and sleep deprived. Exhausted coupled with the difficulties I was having nursing- I was ready to give up!
We called Melissa for help. Melissa responded immediately. Melissa's trustworthy personality made it easy to accept her into our home. Melissa not only came armed with knowledge- she was an amazing coach who, with compassionate and thoughtfulness, helped both myself and husband make it through the difficulties we experienced the first few days.
My experience with Melissa was outstanding. I can truly say that if it wasn't for Melissa, I don't think that I would be nursing to this day- Four months later. I highly recommend the services of Melissa.

If someone was to ask me about the most memorable event in my life, I think that like a lot of women, I would have to say that it was the birth of my first child. It was ‘the’ most beautiful, emotionally powerful and unforgettable experience that I have ever gone through.
Making the conscious choice of wanting to give birth without any drugs was something that was very important to both my husband and I. We wanted to bring our baby into this world as naturally as we possibly could, and that is why we decided to have a Doula with us at the birth. Having Melissa there, gave me the added support and peace of mind I needed to fully embrace this amazing event. She was very hands on and gave me the confidence to deal with the pain and to be able to go through the experience without any drugs. With Melissa beside me, I felt calm and safe and was able to stay focused throughout the labour. Since this was our first child, I know that my husband also felt a great sense of relief knowing he had her there to help him understand what I was, and would be going through. During labour and delivery, she was at my side the entire time. Although my husband did a fantastic job at supporting me, Melissa gave me that additional help that I needed to remain strong. She was terrific. She even picked up my camera the minute our daughter was born, capturing her very first moments of life; something we will cherish forever.
Having a Doula present, but in particular Melissa, was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Sincerely,
Sofia Ela Gall
